Platinum Wedding Band Part 3
A platinum engagement ring looks very similar to white gold but where white gold is a bit dull in color platinum is shiny and bright.
It is important therefore to ensure that, when you are buying a platinum engagement ring that you are getting what you paid for.
First the ring should be as it is described or advertised. Don’t buy sight unseen as a picture may be very different to the real article. You want to see the actual ring before you buy it. So buying on line is tricky unless you can be sure the dealer has a returns policy where you can return the ring for a full refund if you are not satisfied.
For a platinum wedding band a good guideline is to pay about 2-3 months salary. Of course this will depend upon your budget and how much you would like to spend.
Check that any diamond or gem matches the platinum wedding band as well and is securely fixed. a proper tight fitting claw setting to hold the gem is the order of the day. This also provides access to the back of the diamond so a gemologist can check the quality of the diamond as you will most certainly want to have it independently appraised also.
It pays also to keep your platinum engagement ring clean. Warm soapy water, rinsed well and completely dried will help to keep it shiny and new looking.
Don’t use chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners, especially if you have gems fitted in the ring. These can be shattered or cracks can appear.
If a platinum wedding ring is well taken care of then it will surely last a lifetime!
A platinum wedding band can be an absolute pleasure provided the above points are kept in mind.
