Platinum Wedding Ring
A platinum wedding ring can be a joy forever as it would have been intended of course.
A platinum wedding ring will be more expensive than a gold wedding band as platinum is roughly twice the cost of gold and gold wedding rings are not always pure gold but alloyed with other metals such as silver and nickel to give them some strength and durability.
Platinum is harder than gold and more long wearing. It is also very bright and shiny. More so that white gold, which is basically gold mixed with silver platinum and other metals. In fact white gold is often coated in rhodium to improve its shininess and hardness.
When choosing a platinum wedding ring it is important to ensure that you are getting a full platinum ring. Mostly platinum is sold as 950 parts per thousand platinum but sometimes can be lesser, which is to say there is less platinum per ounce and more other metals such as silver zinc and nickel.. You really want as close to pure platinum as possible so it should be 950 parts per thousand minimum.
Get a certificate from the dealer or jeweler to say what the ring is and how much platinum is in it. If the time ever comes to sell the ring you don’t want a nasty surprise.
Platinum is easy to clean. Regular cleaning in warm soapy water and rinsed well is all you need. Dry completely and if storing ensure it is away from gems such as diamonds which might scratch it.
If a platinum wedding ring is well taken care of then it will surely last a lifetime!
